So we made it into Detroit today. Many emotions comes to mind. In a way it´s like Argentos The Return of the living dead in the sense that it is rather deserted here. It´s beautiful with rugged buildings. Some of them fairly old. On the other hand it´s a party town. We´re staying at MGM Detroit which is fantastic but it has a HUGE Casino (I´ve never been to one like this before). The city is a gem but a faded one. I really hope it will get its spark back!

Ok. I know I´m not the Skinny(est) Puppy in the kennel but seriously what is it with the foods here? As soon as you get outside of any bigger city there´s no healthy food to be found. Ended up at Big Boy in Manistique, Michigan. It´s a buffet style place where people were seriously abusing the foods. I like a hearty meal myself, I´m not banging on any drums here but why does everything have to be sweetened, sugar included or deep fried? It´s friggin scary!
I got a clubsandwich and ended up eating a third of it. My friend got a Chef salad which came with a gallon of Blue Cheese dressing. We overheard a dad saying to his kids, finish your fries they´re good for you!
Other than that, it´s midsummers eve. We had herring and a schnapps. Tomorrow comes with promises of a visit to the Motown Museum and more!

Did I mention that we have a pretty big car? I really like Hertz. Everytime I rent a car there I get an upgrade. This time the size I did rent was sitting next to this one in the parking lot so it wasn´t like they were out of full cars, they gave us the luxury car anyway. The driver seat is like a sofa for wide people :)

I´m having a great time here. Still have two more days before going to Chicago but I already decided I have to come back.
It´s a great city with a great ambiance, although I have a hard time finding any hippies. Strange considering the easy access to stuff at stores like the above :)
It´s great to hang out with my friend here and to get tips on what to do that would be hard/impossible to find as a tourist with a guide book!
