I watched Psycho today. Again. It was more than 20 years since I last saw it. I had forgot how good it is! So ahead of time. The photo is fantastic and the actors performances are superb. It´s a perfect movie. The faces Janet Leigh makes while driving, running away are stunning. Everything is so subtle. Nothing except what´s needed is there.
In retrospect it seemed bold to have the “star” of the movie die after a “measly” 46 minutes but it´s also perfect. What struck me today that I totally missed out last time was how innocent the movie was, or rather the presentation of the plot. Today there are 14 to the dozen of serial killer movies with killers being psycho. And most of them goes too far, all that violence kind of make you numb. But in comparison Norman Bates seems like a sissy boy scout. I guess at the time of its release it was another story.
